While all the attention is on the America’s Cup, we all know that the real racing is happening right here in the Great Northwest. With six of the ten qualifying series (races) run, we can get a pretty good idea where things stand so far. We’ve posted two lists; one is “If Ended Now,” which means that if we stopped right now, this list of boats has qualified with four complete series, and this is a compilation of their four best results. The list on the facing page is taking the three best races so far. This gives us a better look at who’s really coming on as they all have three more races to better their score.
Once again a familiar name appears at the top of each list, the indomitable Declaration of Independence. As you see on each list there are ties in points. Next to that is the average class size. So, if boats are tied on points, the boat who has raced against the most boats wins. Example, Declaration of Independence and Coruba are tied with points on the Three Race list. However, the average class size is larger for Declaration of Independence so they are placed ahead. So, with three more races to go, there are lots of chances to move up (or down). Good luck and sail fast!
