The cockpit is open to the stairstep stern. Seats are contoured for comfort with added backrest for support. With the center cockpit you have to remember the other ten feet behind you when manuevering in tight quarters.
The Nauticat 42 has an abundance of big windows and hatches providing lots of light below. Owner opted to keep halyards etc. on mast rather than run them to the cockpit.
Simply pulling the outhaul unfurled the main from inside the Selden mast and had us sailing in moments.
The sail area is less than that of a standard main but for most cruisers the convenience far outweighs any loss in performance.
The aft stateroom is very large, with a bathroom to rival your one at home.
The wrap around nav station in the pilot house provides an excellent work station and good visiblity for driving. Instead of another wheel, this boat used the autopilot for inside steering.
