Since 2002, a unique tradition has been making waves across Puget Sound and has evolved into a beloved annual pilgrimage for a dedicated crew of sailors known as the Pacific Northwest Pirates.

Over the last two decades, this “brethren” has dropped anchor in various historic ports-from Everett and Port Townsend to Anacortes, but their hearts (and their grog) are currently found in the charming waters of Poulsbo, Washington, on August 21-23, 2026.

The gathering is less of a formal event and more of a reunion for those Pirates who prefer life on the water. The festivities begin Friday afternoon as the fleet-typically numbering between 25 and 30 boats-arrives at the Port of Poulsbo. As the lines are secured, the “Grog and Camaraderie” begin. The evening is defined by the sound of music drifting across the docks and a Pirate movie screening under the stars, setting the stage for the adventures to come.

Saturday is the heart of the gathering, packed with activities that celebrate the pirate spirit and grog.

The Treasure Scavenger Hunt: A test of wit and navigation through the streets of Poulsbo for all ages.

Blindman Dinghy Races: A hilarious test of teamwork and trust where rowers are guided only by the shouts of their crew.

The Best Pirate & Decorated Boat Awards: A showcase of the creativity and craftsmanship the group brings to their vessels and costumes.

The Afternoon Cannons: A thunderous tradition that all know the pirates are back!

As the sun begins to set, the docks transform into a massive outdoor dining room for a community potluck dinner. The night concludes with a potluck dinner and with live music, where 100+ Pirates & guests celebrate another successful year of maritime friendship. Sunday morning is the Potluck breakfast send off.

What makes the Pacific Northwest Pirates Gathering truly special is its independence. Operating entirely on contributions with a strict “no profiteering” policy, the event remains a grassroots labor of love. It isn’t a commercial festival; it is a gathering of friends who share passion for the sea, a touch of mischief, and a deep respect for the sailing community.

Whether you are hearing the cannons fire from the shore or sharing a meal on the docks, the message is clear: the pirate spirit is alive and well in the PNW. You can find us on Facebook Groups: PNW Poulsbo Pirates Bash 2026 Poulsbo Aug 21-23, 2026.
