One of Seattle’s most recognizable summer sailing traditions returns in 2026 as the Downtown Sailing Series enters its 22nd year at Elliott Bay Marina.

Beginning Thursday, June 4, the series will once again bring together sailors, crews, and waterfront spectators for ten consecutive weeks of evening racing on Elliott Bay followed by lively gatherings back at the marina. What began as a small community sailing event has grown into one of the most anticipated weekly sailing traditions in the Pacific Northwest, regularly drawing around 60 boats each week.

The format combines accessible racing with a strong social component. After racing concludes each Thursday evening, participants gather at the marina for music, food, drinks, sponsor activations, and prize drawings. The dockside atmosphere has become a hallmark of the event, creating a space where sailors, sponsors, and the broader boating community can connect throughout the summer.

In addition to the sailing and social elements, the 2026 series will support the Forgotten Children’s Fund, helping raise awareness and funds for families in need across the region.

The Downtown Sailing Series continues to reflect the collaborative spirit of Seattle’s maritime community, supported by local businesses, marine industry partners, and volunteers who help make the event possible each year.
