Well, drat! We have become aware of a few errors in our Top 25 for 2025. We’re pleased to report that most of the previously published list is accurate, but we had a couple of snafus in our system—little automations in our massive Top 25 spreadsheet that didn’t automate completely as expected. We apologize that we didn’t get it 100% correct in the first release, but we clearly want to make it right now and highlight a few achievements that weren’t appropriately recognized in February.
The main issue we’ve discovered is that two boats belonged on this list but were not included at all. They sailed more than enough events and scored more than well enough, but because of an mysterious filtering glitch, their calculated scores weren’t accurate and thus they weren’t featured. Those two boats are King 40 Hydra and J/109 Eclipse. Congrats to both on stellar seasons in 2025, and apologies that you didn’t get your moment in the sun prior to this! Last, we also need to update J/105 Panic’s score, whose score didn’t include one of their best finishes. Adding that result to their calculation bumps them up several spots into the top 10.
We are as disappointed as anyone in this inaccuracy. There doesn’t appear to be evidence that past years’ Top 25 results were similarly haywire. We are, however, absolutely resolved to be more thorough in our review of the calculations for 2026 and beyond, and we hope to rebuild any trust in 48 North’s Top 25 that might have been lost due to these errors. We can do better, and we will. For now, just get out there frequently, sail your best, and have fun!
