If you have a passion for engaging with your local boating community and also want to help be a part of protecting marine wildlife in the Salish Sea, consider becoming a Be Whale Wise Boater Ambassador.
Be Whale Wise, in partnership with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and The Whale Museum, is launching its
second year of the Boater Ambassador Program. Selected ambassadors will conduct outreach and education in the Washington boating community about rules and best practices for boating in waters shared with the endangered Southern Resident killer whales.
There will be an introductory virtual orientation the week of November 2 to provide more information about the program and to allow potential ambassadors to ask questions.
Those interested in becoming a boater ambassador must submit an application by midnight on Wednesday, October 28.
Those selected to participate will be notified directly ahead of the virtual orientation. For those who do not have experience with the boating community but who meet all other requirements may be considered for other volunteer opportunities with Be Whale Wise.
