University of Washington’s Rachel Wold will illuminate how the NANOOS Visualization System (NVS) conslidates real time data, and how boaters might leverage the app’s functionality at the upcoming Puget Sound Cruising Club meeting on Friday April 17. The public is invited!
For more than 50 years, Puget Sound Cruising Club has been bringing together local crusing enthusiasts with aspirations ranging from hyper-local to genuinely worldwide. Their monthly meetings are unique community connection opportunities for anyone who shares those interests, and they can be great vehicles for learning, information, and inspriation. Here are a few details about the April 17 meeting with a unique presentation:
For the April meeting of Puget Sound Cruising Club, Rachel Wold from Nanoos presenting info from real world UW and NOAA research. Rachel Wold from University of Washington will demonstrate the free online routing and trip planning tool, the NVS Boaters App. The NANOOS Visualization System (NVS) uses real-time observations and weather forecasts, plus tides and current data to help mariners plan a safe and efficient trip.
NVS Boaters App was created by the Northwest Association of Networked Ocean Observing Systems (NANOOS), and was designed to access and utilize the broadest set of ocean data, tools, products, and knowledge. Rachel will provide an overview of the project, as well as demonstrate how to use the NVS Boaters App to plan a trip, how to view potential routes, as well as how to get in-route updates so you can take the safest, most efficient path forward. It’s worth digging into while you have good internet.
