Pacific Northwest sailors and music lovers alike are invited to the second annual Totem Middle School Jazz Club & Everett Sea Scouts Fundraiser on Friday, May 31 at the Port of Everett.
This unique event combines youth-led jazz music and a community sail aboard the Sea Scouts’ newly acquired flagship, the 72-foot Irwin ketch Gypsy Wind.
The afternoon begins at 12:30 p.m. with a live dockside jazz performance by Totem Middle School’s Jazz Club in front of Anthony’s HomePort Restaurant. After the music, ticket holders will board Gypsy Wind for a two-hour sail from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., led by the youth and adult volunteers of Everett Sea Scouts Ship 226.
“This is a celebration of youth leadership, maritime tradition, and community support,” said Skipper Mike Bellgardt. “Gypsy Wind is not just a beautiful boat—she’s a platform for education, teamwork, and adventure. We’re proud to share her with the public while raising funds for two outstanding programs.”
Tickets are $50, which includes both the concert and the sailing experience.
- Purchase at Totem Middle School Office
- Checks payable to: Totem Middle School PTSA

Proceeds will help Totem Middle School Band replace aging musical instruments and provide the Sea Scouts with essential safety equipment for Gypsy Wind, enabling expanded training voyages throughout Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands.
The event also highlights a growing partnership between public school arts and maritime youth development—two powerful avenues for engaging and empowering the next generation.
Space aboard Gypsy Wind is limited, and early ticket purchase is encouraged. For details and updates, visit everettseascouts.org.
