I originally got to know Tucker Thompson when I had the opportunity to interview him to for 48° North prior to the America’s Cup in Bermuda. Tucker is extremely active in the America’s Cup scene—he’s a former Cup sailor, the Official Media Host of the past two America’s Cup, and a renowned public speaker.
Prior to pandemic lockdown, Tucker was traveling around the country giving presentations that enthusiastically share stories of Cup history, current Cup events, and especially the inside scoop on the American challenger, New York Yacht Club’s Team American Magic. He gave two of these presentations in the Pacific Northwest last fall, in Seattle and Port Townsend.
Presently quarantined with his family, Tucker and I recently got on a video call to bring me and the 48° North audience up to speed on some of the latest from the America’s Cup, and American Magic in particular.
