A notable change for this year’s SYC Grand Prix is that qualification will not be required. You read that correctly!
Open to all competitors, the 2021 Seattle Yacht Club Grand Prix Regatta takes place October 22-24 at Shilshole Bay Marina. Grand Prix welcomes ORC, PHRF, and One Design Classes. Racing will provide a balance of buoys and mid-distance courses, as the conditions allow.
The schedule is as follows:
Friday:
1000 – 1130 Check in at Corinthian Yacht Club
1130 – 1145 Competitor’s briefing at CYC
1300 First warning signal
1700 No warning signal after this time
After racing Social at CYC
Saturday:
1030 First warning signal
1700 No warning signal after this time
After racing Social at CYC
Sunday:
1030 First warning signal
1600 No warning signal after this time
1800 Awards Dinner Party at Seattle Yacht Club.
Racing, Scoring and Event Information:
The racing area is Puget Sound north of Alki Pt. and south of Pt. Wells. The starting line will be in the vicinity of Shilshole Bay or the area north of Meadow Point.
Multiple races may be sailed each day. The Race Committee will have discretion to select between buoy and distance courses based on anticipated conditions. The course designations will be described in the Sailing Instructions. Boats will be scored in class. Corrected times for PHRF Northwest classes will be calculated using the Time on Time method as defined by PHRF Northwest. ORC classes will be scored time on time also.
Each crew member is invited to the Friday, Saturday and Sunday post-race events. Additional wristbands for guests for the Sunday Awards Dinner and Party can be purchased for $20. The Sunday party includes dinner, free beer, and awards presentation.
The registration deadline to enter without the late fee is Wednesday, October 20 at 1159 PST. After this time a $30 late fee will be charged for each registration.
