Applications for the 2027 Van Isle 360 International Yacht Race opened on July 2, 2026, and within 10 days there were 8 submissions under consideration! The race is set to take place from Friday, June 4, 2027, through Saturday, June 19.

The 2027 race, named the Black Wolf Edition, a nod to new owners Chris and Christa Maier, is an OSR Category 2 race that will be scored under ORC. Divisions will be determined by ratings; entry rating for monohulls is ORC APH 615 and faster. Multihulls with PHRF 135 and faster are welcome to apply and will be considered if a division can be formed.

This 580-mile race consists of 9 legs to 9 harbors, including through remote Canadian wilderness, is supported by the communities it visits, and without whom the race wouldn’t be possible. The ports of call are the same as the 2025 Van Isle 360.

All present applications at time of writing are boats from Washington to California. More than half are returning, having raced in 2025, which is a testament to this extraordinary point-to-point yacht race, the northernmost on the Pacific coast, where typical sights under sail are whales, sea lions, eagles, bears, and sea otters. This extreme race is a rugged challenge where intense tidal currents and the open Pacific will be encountered. It starts and ends in Nanaimo –  ‘The Harbour City’ and home of the world-famous Nanaimo bar.
