Carl Davis and his wife Roz Montgomery moved to Orcas Island 5 years ago, where they purchased their first boat, a 2006 Tartan 3400.  Over the next three summers they made trips to the Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound, and the Broughtons, before deciding last spring to “go for it” and sail to Southeast Alaska.  Carl — a professional filmmaker — was so entranced by the landscapes, small towns, and wildlife of Alaska that by the time he returned he found that he had taken more than 7,000 photos and videos! “Southeast Alaska, Summer 2021” is a short film that captures some of the special moments during their journey.

Carl would also like to acknowledge and give thanks to 48° North for the June, 2019 “The Alaska Issue”, and in particular, an article by Andy Cross, “Destination Southeast”, which they used as an inspiration and guide for their trip through Southeast Alaska.

Carl is also proud to be the newly elected Commodore of the Orcas Island Yacht Club. He can be contacted at carld2110@gmail.com.
