If you’re an avid boater in Washington and want to help our marine state parks and your fellow boaters, consider volunteering this summer as a marine park host!

Marine park hosts assist boaters as they enter moorage areas, inform visitors about park facilities, alert boaters of weather conditions, and let visitors know about unique areas to explore. Unlike other host assignments, hosts at marine parks are required to stay for a minimum of one to two weeks, depending on the location. Specifically, Blake Island Marine State Park is in need of hosts now, but you can find other locations HERE.

Want to know what the park hosting experience is like? Check out the article Marina Hosting at Blake Island State Park from the October 2022 issue of 48° North.

Requirements for hosts

Hosts must be at least 18 years old and are required to pass a criminal background check.  Hosts must provide their own boat; lodging is not provided. Pets are welcome but must be under physical control or leashed at all times. You are there to set a good example and be a good representative of Washington State Parks.

Hosts should enjoy working with the public, have the desire to accept new challenges, and possess the willingness to learn about Washington state parks.
