The Poulsbo Historical Society, Poulsbo Maritime Museum, and the Port of Poulsbo are excited to host the Liberty Bay Festival on May 29-31, and encourage all mariners to come join the fun.

This event celebrates the maritime history of the North Kitsap area and will feature historic vessels, including: The National Historic Landmark vessel Virginia V; one of the last remaining “Mosquito Fleet” steamers. The Viking longship Valykrie; a 56 ft replica based on the ‘Skuldelev 6′ Norweigen-built Viking Ship; built by shipwrights and volunteers in Anacortes over the past 10 years. Poulsbo Boats; built in downtown Poulsbo by Ronald Young from ~1930 – 1950. The M/V Lotus; an Edwardian House Boat built in 1909. The Air Snipe; originally built in 1943 as a US Navy Submarine Chaser; one of five remaining.

The weekend event will feature an opening parade of vessels on Friday afternoon, May 29. Activities throughout the weekend will include  live music, artisan vendors, food trucks, interactive exhibits, and family-friendly activities. It is designed to attract both locals and regional visitors, with a strong emphasis on cultural tourism and historical preservation.

There will be family friendly art activities at the Sea Discovery Center and the Poulsbo Heritage Museum lawn artist, vendors, and informational booths in the park. Presentations will cover a variety of maritime heritage topics related to the area, and a Poulsbo Viking Bon Fire ceremony will take place on Saturday evening.

Shuttles to parking outside of downtown Poulsbo will be provided all weekend by Kitsap Airporter and The Carlisle II steamer will serve as a pop-up ferry between Bremerton and Poulsbo on Saturday, May 30.
