The waters of Penn Cove are about to come alive again as the Whidbey Summer Classic Regatta (WSCR, Whisker for short) returns for another unforgettable weekend of racing, July 10-12. The regatta is quickly becoming one of the must-race events of the summer calendar, with ideal sailing conditions, competitive racing, and the kind of atmosphere that will keep sailors talking well after crossing the finish line.
The Whidbey Summer Classic Regatta is designed to feel like a true sailing celebration including seasoned veterans to newer crews looking for their next challenge. This event welcomes a wide range of racers who all share the same passion for getting on the water. Whether you’re chasing the podium or looking for an unforgettable weekend with friends and family, this regatta delivers an experience that will blend high-level racing with laid-back Northwest culture.
Competitors can expect exciting courses, scenic sailing, shifting currents, and tactical opportunities, meaning no race will ever be decided early.
Off the water, the energy continues shoreside at the Oak Harbor Yacht Club, with live music, food and drinks. Laugh, share stories, reconnect with old friends, and be a part of a community that continues to grow every year.
“WSCR is my favorite racing event to attend! We have great fun on, off, and even IN the water if the wind takes a break. An ice cream run at the Coupeville dock passes the time while we wait for the wind to return. Music and dancing at the yacht club, karaoke in town at the after after party on Saturday night, camping on F-dock all weekend… I love making new friends each year and deepening the connections to our sailing community.” said Emily from Oak Harbor
“Absolutely love this event! The Summer Regatta brings back the old race week vibes. Penn Cove always delivers the fun, and if the wind won’t blow; there’s ice cream in Coupeville!” – John, Anacortes
“This event stands out as a premier celebration on the water, bringing together the beauty, excitement, and camaraderie of Pacific Northwest sailing. With its welcoming hospitality and stunning waterfront setting, the Oak Harbor Yacht Club provides the ideal venue and atmosphere for an exceptional experience. This event is our yearly summer tradition that we thoroughly enjoy.” -Dave, San Diego
